A downloadable playbook

The Prognosticator is a playbook for the fantastic Wanderhome tabletop role-playing game. Wanderhome is a game about stories of the past meeting the search for the future.  The Prognosticator playbook explores our wanting certainty about predicting our futures, and the writing of the astrological Almanacks which can guide our plantings.

You bring the future into reach, gathering the paths of the stars to tell Farmers, Physickers, and Far-travelers what the year will bring.  The Almanacke you write for tells each year of strange events of the year past, and strange events of the year to come.

You are alive. Your care is creative, observant, and sometimes accurate.

The themes explored by this playbook are a declared certainty about being able to predict the future, for self and for others, whether or not those predictions are proved true in the end, or false.

Part journalism (collecting news of events that have happened around the Haeth), part astrologer (predicting future events with greater or, often, lesser success), part entertainer (filling the margins of Almanacs with curiosities and amusements).  What does trying to tell the future mean?

Other animal options?  Well, how about Groundhog, for American players, or Sheep for European players, or Elephant for African players, or... there are so many animals that we humans claim can predict the weather or the seasons.
